I think AMD cards have a structure rate limiter girlfriend can set in the driver manage panel so that when it it s okay to 60 FPS, it won"t render faster.

You are watching: How to stop screen tearing without vsync

That limiter from AMD (and NVIDIA too) introduces as lot input lag as V-Sync.

You can"t perform much around tearing there is no V-Sync/Fast-Sync/Free-Sync/G-Sync

OC her monitor if you deserve to and try to keep FPS as high as feasible because through generating an ext frames you have a much better chance for few of them come hit the refresh cycle on the monitor.

FPS cap does nothing because that reducing tearing.

Rivatuner hat the FPS there is no the lag input prefer V-sync. Ns haved experiment it in war Thunder and the difference is like night and also day. Also adaptive V-sync had too much lag input because that my liking.

Build:

1080p 60hz monitor

i5 4460

R9 380

8gb ram

I did every frame testing in Rainbow 6 Siege top top Ultra.

When i play games, mine graphics card can render more than the 60 frames the the monitor puts out, however it reasons tearing. The only way that I deserve to fix this is by permitting V-Sync which borders the fps come 59.94 or whatever. The problem with this is that my minimum fps fall by 15 once it is allowed (65 fps vs 50 fps). What do I have to do so that ns don"t have screen tearing, and maintain a minimum fps the is higher than 60? to buy a higher refresh price or a greater resolution monitor?

You have the right to lock FPS to 60 with rivatuner yet you still have actually tearing ...

Its either Vsync or a 75/144hz freesync monitor ..

Let"s agree to disagree

Higher refresh price monitor, rotate up AA or greater resolution for much less FPS(Can also downscale). May likewise be able to OC your monitors refresh rate a tiny higher.

Overclocked the screen to 70hz. Did part benchmarking there is no v-sync and everything appears to be working much better than prior to with no screen-tearing. Thanks for the help.

use the very same FPS cap together your monitors refresh rate, (that"s all these *sync features do) then you should have actually no issues, there"s no usage in high FPS counts if friend can"t display screen them, that"s simply wasted sources (not to mention added power price in putting much more load top top components)

I"ve provided MSI Afterburner and also Rivatuner for years and it"s great, I collection the FPS lid to +1 of mine monitors refreshing rate.I additionally am lucky sufficient to have actually G-sync, so if that dips listed below the collection limit it"s nice and also smooth.Works great.
